We take great pride in the scientific excellence of our invited lecturers, panels, side events and authors of papers included in Special and Regular Conference sessions at the SDEWES Conference. However, there is another programme that truly completes the Conference experience – our Social Programme.
From 18–21 January 2026, you will have a unique opportunity to enjoy the company of leading experts in the field of sustainable development from all around the world. Through our social programme, participants will have the chance to exchange ideas in a more informal atmosphere while experiencing the vibrant culture, history and Caribbean charm of Cartagena de Indias, a UNESCO World Heritage city.

Welcome reception
18 January 2026 (Sunday), 17:30 – 18:30 h
Join us for a welcome drink when we will formally start the Conference. The reception will be held at 17:30 h at Hotel Almirante, 5*.

14:30 h – Pick-up at Casino Río, Avenida San Martín
14:30 – 17:30 h – Chiva City Tour of Cartagena: Cartagena Letters, Old Boots Monument, San Felipe de Barajas Fortress, India Catalina Monument, Historic Centre walking tour - Refreshments included
17:30 h – Tour ends at Parque Flanagan, Walk to El Muelle Restaurant (~10 min)
17:30 h – Welcome drink with music programme and sunset at El Muelle Restaurant
19:00 – 22:00 h – Conference Dinner at El Muelle Restaurant
